:: 2005 - Kibblestone
Summer Camp 2005 at one of 3rd Hindley’s favourite sites, Kibblestone International Scout Camp got off to rather a strange start when a ransom note appeared from one of the Scouts. It contained a photo of Simon’s hideous blue/gaffer tape coloured trousers and a note asking for £500 for their safe return. On the Sunday morning before Simon left, they mysteriously appeared… at the top of the flagpole!
Strange happenings aside, let’s have a look at the rest of the week! One of the favourite activities at Kibblestone is the assault course in the valley, with it’s infamous rope swing finish. This year was Tom Gregory’s turn to try flying lessons as he let go of the rope mid flight! Another new activity for 2005 was the crate stacking, Speakman and several others managed to get to great heights on this, forgetting that what goes up… well you know the rest!
Another new event for this year was the ‘Theme Day’. This year’s theme was St. George, meaning that the marquee and all the members were dressed for the occasion. A mediaeval trial was held, with Norman eventually been found guilty of something-or-other and sentenced to face the stocks whilst 28 Scouts threw wet sponges at him. Those with more sense relaxed on the bouncy castles.
