:: Summer Camp

Well, that’s it; over for another year. 3rd Hindley are now home and washed (OK maybe not) after spending 8 days at Beaudesert Park - a site new to us for 2009. It’s definitely one to add to the list of favourites as everyone was very impressed with the standard of activities offered on site, including the Aerial Runway, Abseiling, Pedal Karts, Jacob’s Ladder, Tree Climbing, Coracling and perennial favourites Crate Stacking and Archery.

Off site we managed to get some good weather at Drayton Manor, which was welcome as the ever-sufferable Stormforce 10 drowned everyone as usual. We also got to Waterworld - thankfully, this year Jack didn’t leave his stuff behind.

In the sporting stakes, Gordon suffered his annual defeat in the Brown v Bennet grudge match, although his team did win the “Twenty20 Test Match” (suspicions have been raised though - their ’star player’ neither batted nor bowled and only served to miss an easy run out!). Once again the leaders volleyball team remains undefeated (although in their credit, the Explorers did actually turn up to play this year).

Other traditions were carried forwards too - the leaders tents sounded like the Wigan Male Voice Choir at 6am, Padge still hasn’t seen breakfast, Gordon still hasn’t won a game of chase-the-ace and Norman still doesn’t know the words to… well… anything!

And with the tents barely dry from this year, the leaders are already working on next year’s camp, with a recce to a site we’ve never camped at before - Phasel’s Wood - comping up shortly. Stay tuned for more info…

    Can we have a link to Beaudesert Site in this area.
    What about the flyer - do you want that sending to you. As soon as I have done the Programme and Menu, etc we’ll get them on as well? What do you think?

    Yep, please send them… as you can see this bit of the site is slightly b0rked at the moment, but as soon as I’m not working 25 hour days (seriously 9am till 10am!!!), I’m gonna update this bit and the other remaining sections. On a related note I’m hoping to do the switch over to the new site easter weekend as there’s 4 days where I’ll be around to fix things that don’t work!

    its impossible to work 25 hour days if 1 day is 24 hours. I think you mean you sometimes run over in to the next day cos you don’t work quick enough. That or you can’t see the clock cos your hair is in the way. lol
