If you look around, you’ll find quite a few Scout sites closer than those that we’ve never been to. Some that have some quite good activities too. Who’s been to Bradley Wood for example?

and

are good places to start.

I think they're looking at non-scouting sites. Probably because there will be a couple of them unwarranted & 18+.

But in other news: congrats on the thread title and subsequent grammar…

Minefield.

Potentially.

If it literally is just a few of you camping as mates then you’re fine. Once you start borrowing Scout equipment or taking part in anything that you will use towards your Scouting programme (such as Chief Scout’s Award) then things start to get a bit muddier. But they don’t have to be - the support is there from Gilwell, it just takes a bit of digging to find it.

If wanted yourself to be covered (and - importantly - to be insured) then all the same rules would still apply whether you’re on a Scout site or not.

It is possible to go away and have U18s on on nights away passport and O18s on AGAA rules on the same event / camp / field. This has been confirmed by Gilwell to be acceptable, provided that the over 18s are there as peers (i.e. they have not submitted an AA form for ESL or AESL position). That way you’re covered by Unity’s insurance should anything go belly up too.

If you need any help with anything like this, give us a shout and I’ll try to help.
